Privacy Policy
The Defend My Dividend Coalition, “DMD”, is committed to protecting the privacy of our supporters who use our Web site. This Privacy Policy covers our treatment of information that we may collect when you (1) access our Web site and/or, (2) use our Web site to generate and/or send an e-mail or printed letters to Congress.
Information We Collect and Use
When you access our Web site:
In addition to the information you knowingly provide, DMD collects the domain names and IP addresses of its visitors, along with usage statistics (e.g., types of Web browsers and operating systems used) and browsing history. These data are used to more efficiently operate and administer the Web site. DMD may combine this information with the personally identifiable information it collects.
When you generate and/or send an e-mail to Congress:
We ask you to provide your first and last names, e-mail address, home address, ZIP code, and telephone number for the purpose of identifying your congressional district and confirming that you are a constituent to the recipient of your letter to Congress. The information you provide will appear on the e-mail you generate using our Web site and will be disclosed to the congressional offices to which you addressed your message. Many congressional offices have enough staff resources to respond only to constituents and providing them with information about you will help identify you as such. Congressional offices may, in turn, disclose your personal information to others.
Information Sharing and Disclosure
We will not disclose your personal information (specifically, your name, e-mail address, mailing address, or telephone number) to any third party without your explicit permission and consent, except as follows:
- Your personal information may be shared with the congressional offices to which you have addressed your correspondence, which in turn may share such information with others;
- We may share your personally identifiable information with affiliated organizations to the extent those organizations agree to abide by this privacy policy. Affiliated organizations include any organization whose dividend tax goals we believe are consistent with our mission.
- We may disclose your personal information as required by law or in good faith compliance with any court order, warrant, or other judicial, administrative or legislative authorization or requirement; and
- Your information also will be available to our Web site vendor for the purpose of assisting us with the campaign and administering and operating this Web site. The Web site vendor will not share your personal information with anyone else.
E-mail
From time to time, DMD may send updates and issue-focused electronic communications related to the dividend tax issue and other matters important to the electric and natural gas utility industry. We may use your e-mail address to send this information. It is your right to stop receiving e-mail any time you choose and to only receive relevant and wanted e-mail. You can unsubscribe from the Defend My Dividend e-mail list at any time and for any reason. An unsubscribe link is included in each e-mail, along with instructions.
Age Restrictions
You must be at least 18 years old to use our Web site to send an e-mail to Congress. If you are under 18 years of age, please do not send any information about yourself, including your name, address or e-mail address. If we discover that we have collected any personally identifying information from a child under the age of 18, we will remove that information from our database as soon as possible.
